Lawrence Lessig, always an inspiration, just announced that he will be working to fix corruption instead of intellectual property starting soon.
Specialist versus generalist is something I've thought a lot about recently. What impresses me about Lessig's shift is that he became a true specialist, the best in the world at what he does, and now he's moving on by choice. Also impressive is the importance and difficulty of both old and new subjects.
Sometimes I'm a bit afraid that I'm a jack of many trades in an increasinly specialized world. This is a reminder that even after focusing on one thing for 10 years, change is possible (even if success is achieved).
It was a huge thrill for me when Professor Lessig said he was a big fan of Jamglue, and I'm sure he will be successful in everything he attempts.
