Flying

I have two rules when flying: only go on American, Jetblue, or Southwest, and always fly direct. On my way to New York I broke both by flying Continental through Houston.

(Houston is pronounced "hugh's tun" in Texas, rather than "how's ton". If you say "how's ton" in "hugh's tun", you may get asked "Are you from New York?" The correct answer to that question is always "Go fuck yourself", or GFYS for short. Always gets a laugh.)

When checking in for my flight, I was informed that my itinerary was changed. Like a monkey, I clicked through, and it printed out a ticket terminating in "hugh's tun". Actually it didn't even print it out, because the machine ran out of paper. I asked them to print me another copy, and by the way, I was going to La Guardia. After some pecking, the agent explained that the LGA flight had been canceled, but I had been put on a June 30th flight from "hugh's tun" to LGA.

So they expected me to spend three days in Texas on my way to New York. Kind of a GFYS from Continental (which, by the way, should maybe be lexicographically banned from flying into an "Intercontinental" airport like IAH). They got me on a flight to JFK instead, so it's all good.

Anyway, I also saw an aside in this BBC article about British Airways and Richard Branson that gives a good reason to fly on BA:

"We do reserve the right to edit films, and many films are edited in some way on board," said a spokesman.

On-board film editor would be a pretty sweet title, and you'd get free peanuts I assume.

Today's photographic nomination is in Abstract:
