My Weekend Photo portfolio was okay. One of the manipulated shots even ended up in some summer camp catalog somewhere.
But looking at all my photos in likebetter makes me want to put together a better collection.
So here's a goal: I want to have an iterative process that helps me find the best photographs over the next year or so.
I'm going to start by nominating pictures in four categories: Portraits / People, Landscapes / Architecture, Objects / Animals, and Abstract / Wacky / Other.
Each day or so I'll try to find one photo and put it in one of those buckets, keeping a list of up to ten in each category. I'll sort them as I insert each one, dropping ones off the end as needed.
Once I have ten of each category I like, I'll pick the top five of each and work on them. The other five will be reserves in case I'm not happy with how some turn out. One key difference is I won't be doing any manipulation until the end.
Maybe the final result will be some sort of exhibition in 2008;
perhaps at the notorious East
End Studio.
I've seeded the list with some of the sources for the Weekend Photo choices.
I would love suggestions for photos- I know it's hard to get URLs from the likebetter widget, but just send me a description and we can have fun tracking them down.
If nothing else this will give me a good reason to put some color in
my daily entries.
