My new no-posting-after-midnight rule has really killed my output here. But now that it's after 8am, I think it's officially tomorrow, so I could post something if I wanted (and was coherent enough).
I try to stay away from just linking to other sites, but I'm kind of in the mood, so I'll give it a try.
YouTube first. The illegal commercial stuff is certainly useful at
times, but it's the original content that can really get me. The two
pieces I've been most touched by are these (one recent, one older):
The Machine is
Us/ingUs
YOUTUBERS
I guess they're both pretty self-referential / echo-chambery, but what they do, they do well. The commercial stuff brings people in, but it's the user-contributed content that makes such sites personal, relevant, and meaningful.
Then there's that picture of the interstate system done as a subway map.
For some reason it really makes me want to drive all over America. You know, like that song. I've done pretty much all of the 5 and the 90, and big chunks of the 95 and 15; there's so much more to go, and the way this represents it makes it look so easy.
I noticed in his blog that Kobe Bryant is behind on his Harry Potter reading.
If I were an opposing fan, I'd be yelling out what happens on page 596 of the Half-Blood Prince.
I guess he probably already knows though. Go Lakers.
And finally, this new meme of bloggers writing disclosure statements makes me think we should move towards a world where those are our resumes.
That would imply to me that employment is no longer a one-at-a-time thing, but rather a series of interconnected obligations, revenue streams, and ongoing attachments. It's a pretty dreamworld.
(Okay, last last thing, I love how in writing I can say "... those are our resumes." and it's totally clear.)
(I lied, one more- if you have a microphone, go do Jamglue's valentines day battle.)
