Some bad games

Lakers 74 @ Timberwolves 88

After the first win that I didn't watch (although I listened), I managed to catch the second half of the T'Wolves game. Bottom line: if you can shut down Kobe late in the game, the Lakers aren't going to win. All of a sudden when I arrived, it got really hard to score. Maybe that's my bad, I dunno. The Wolves are playing pretty remarkable defense right now, and we paid for it. In answer, I can only offer this (credit).

Then I guess the 76ers did pretty much the same thing (I didn't get to see it), with Iguodala replacing Hassell on Kobe. Lamar and Mihm did a better job of scoring, which is why we had the lead into the fourth quarter, but nobody stepped up to close it out (especially defensively).

Those two losses were okay though, since Phil's stated goal was to go 2-2 on the road trip, and Atlanta and Memphis looked like the easiest targets all along. But then Gasol had a monster game and we couldn't hit a shot, and in the end even that modest goal was not met.

Tonight is Knicks @ Lakers, it should be a fun one even if both teams are pretty bad. I need more gear so I can go out and get trashtalking here in NYC. I already have tickets to the next time these guys play, so I'll be watching the matchups carefully in order to help with the pre-game scouting report for that one.
